A Legacy at Deep Creek You Can Trust!

The Railey Family History

In the early 1900s, C.M. Railey and his logging crew helped clear the trees and debris on what would become the lakebed of Deep Creek Lake. His close involvement with the Pennsylvania Electric Company allowed him to purchase a parcel of land that would be lakeside. After the lake was filled in 1925, the Railey family opened the Lakeside Park & Stone Tavern. The Lakeside Park offered a sandy beach area for visitors to enjoy. Once tourism began to pick up in the 1930s, the Railey family built small cabins on their property at the Lakeside Park to rent out to the 'vacationeers' visiting Deep Creek. The Railey family would continue to pioneer new businesses and opportunities at Deep Creek Lake for the next 80 years. 

Built from a Legacy

Railey Mountain Lake Vacations (now Railey Vacations) was founded in the 1980s to help better allow second homeowners a safe and efficient way to rent their properties to guests coming to Deep Creek. Nancy Railey had a vision for the future of vacation rentals - a vision that became reality with her revolutionary business model. As a property management company that handled both the care of the home and the booking process for the guest, Railey Vacations made it easier than ever to share the lake life experience with visitors.

While the vacation rental industry has continued to evolve and change, the Railey brand has remained committed to providing guests and homeowners with the best service possible. The management team has decades of experience in the vacation rental industry at Deep Creek Lake. This experience is what helps make the rental process, for both the guest and the homeowner, as seamless as possible. Meet some of our team below!

The best knowledge comes from experience! Mary brings experience both in the professional industry and as a second homeowner at Deep Creek. Her career has taken her from working at global brands like Pepsi to managing teams of 200+ in the hospitality industry. Her fun spirit and love for the outdoors paired perfectly with her military background and love for precision. You'll catch her out for a quick morning run during the summer or zipping down the slopes of Wisp in the winter. 

Jon Bell Railey Vacations

Jon Bell, President

Like many, Jon grew up vacationing at Deep Creek, and decided to move here full time after he finished college. He started his career in real estate shortly after with Railey Realty. Jon has had a stellar career, quickly becoming the top agent in Garrett County and a partner at Railey Realty. His experience in the industry has allowed for him to help Railey Vacations make great strides in updating practices and staying current with industry trends. Jon lives on the lake with his wife and two daughters, who share his love for adventure on and off the lake.

Leigh Miller Railey Vacations

Leigh Miller, Director of Revenue

You won't find anyone more experienced than Leigh! She's been with Railey Vacations for nearly 20 years - so it's safe to say, she knows what she's talking about. Leigh's primary duties are to oversee and manage the rates for each home, working with our sophisticated pricing algorthim to help ensure each home is earning and performing well for the owner of the home. In addition, she's a integral part of the Railey Vacations management team. Aside from work, Leigh enjoys spending time with her children and husband, taking advantage of the outdoor adventures Garrett County offers. 

Leslie Miller Railey Vacations

Leslie Miller, New Owner Relations

With a background in reservations and guest services, Leslie knows the ins and outs of the vacation rental industry at Deep Creek Lake! As the point person for new homeowner relations, Leslie helps bring prospective homeowners into the program at Railey Vacations. Her industry knowledge and close ties to the community make her a knowledgeable and valuable asset for our management team. Outside of the office, Leslie helps manage her family's store, Lee's Corner Market, and spending time with her children.
