While the Deep Creek Lake area is best known as a four-season vacation destination, the kind people who call this place home work hard to make this community a special place. Railey Vacations is proud to help support the many charities and organizations in this area. Our employees, homeowners, and many clients and customers have all generously donated their time and money to help give back to this community we love so much. When guests book their stay through our website, they have the option to add a small donation which is then given to one of four local organizations that support the area, women, and children. Each month, one department at Railey Vacations chooses a charity or cause they’re passionate about to support. You can read more about some of the many charities and foundations Railey Vacations supports below.

The Deep Creek Watershed Foundation focuses on the health and longevity of Deep Creek Lake and the surrounding watershed that supports the ecosystem. The Foundation works with local officials and experts to focus on current issues within the watershed. Some of their current initiatives include monitoring the lake for Zebra Mussels, neutralizing acid mine drainage, managing storm water drainage, and monitoring lake levels. The Deep Creek Watershed Foundation focuses not only on Deep Creek Lake but the entire watershed area that ultimately affects the lake. Focusing on these issues now will help ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy Deep Creek Lake and all this area has to offer. You can read more about the foundation and their current projects here.

The Dove Center is a local women’s and children’s shelter that allows for a safe environment for those suffering from domestic abuse. The shelter provides emergency housing, in-house counseling, and even a safe place and shelter for victims’ animals. This organization is very important in our community and provides much needed support for victims of domestic violence. The Dove Center will soon be opening transitional housing, too! There are many events hosted throughout the year that help support The Dove Center, including the annual Festival of Trees event each Thanksgiving. You can learn more about The Dove Center here.

WGW Community Youth Cup supports Landon’s Library, Samantha Funding the Arts, and the Andrew S. Woods Memorial Scholarship. All of these organizations provide educational and monetary support for different aspects of a child’s learning path. Each winter, the Deep Creek Lake Lions Club hosts blind skiers for a few days of fun at Wisp Resort. Each participant is accompanied by volunteer guides to help them down the slopes. Accommodations and lift tickets are donated to the participants. Railey Vacations is grateful to our homeowners who donate their homes to be used by the Blind Skier program.
