Farmer's Market

From May to October is the Mountain Fresh Farmer's Market located at the Mountain Fresh Pavilion in Oakland. Stop by from 10am to 1pm every Wednesday and Saturday for a variety of offerings from local farmers, artisans, cooks, and bakers. In the winter months, from November to May, the farmers market is open inside on select Saturdays.

There are three museums here in town for anyone looking to learn more about the Garrett County area. The Garrett County Historical Museum, Transportation Museum, and the Oakland B&O Museum each highlight different aspects of history that were instrumental in the growth of Garrett County. 

Our Town Community Theatre

This small brick theatre hosts a variety of productions throughout the year. You can even check out the occasional open mic night! A visit to Our Town Theatre is a great way to support the small town arts scene in a quaint and charming setting!

If you're looking for food in downtown Oakland, you'll find a mix of some chain restaurants and local businesses. Many of the restaurants may be small, but have some of the best food in the area. From local tap rooms to diners, you won't leave town hungry.

Festivals

There are many festivals held throughout the year in Oakland. The annual Autumn Glory festival is the second weekend of October and is a beautiful time to view the changing leaves around the Deep Creek area. In February, stop by Winterfest to see some ice carvings, go on sleigh rides, and listen to outside music.
