Gorgeous home and back yard! We even made use of the fire pit and brought our own wood. Hot tubs are always a hit. We appreciate the goody bag as well! The indoor pool was great too and the speakers for music was awesome! I loved how you can control what rooms the music plays in. The fireplace inside is decorative only. There seemed to be a bit of a shortage with the hot water though.

We had a wonderful vacation at this home in December! Everything was functioning! Had a great time in the pool, great time in the hot tub! It seem to be very roomy, and set up very nicely for us all to enjoy each other, and have our own little space to go to when we wanted to. Great kitchen to cooking also!

Great house. Does have some minor issues, new carpet needed, new outlets, doors stick. Pool was great, location on the water was great. Very roomy. Nice washer/dryer and clean home. Garbage bin was big to hold our garbage for the week. We had issues with wasps but Railey was quick to respond on July 4th. Would recommend and would rent again.

Beautiful house with an amazing lakefront location

Overall our family (11) had a wonderful stay at The Castle on the Lake over the New Year’s weekend. The house is large, beautiful and well equipped. We enjoyed the beautiful lakefront location and all the amenities, particularly its close proximity (less than 10 miles) to Wisp Resort. We would definitely rent the house again. The following are a few comments:1. There is limited privacy in street level suite. The owner should install window covering or stencil on the glass doors.2. The hot water is scalding and could potentially burn the skin. The owner would save money by lowering the hot water temperature. I would be hesitant to have little ones in the house until this is changed.3. I would have appreciated a text “heads up” that the pool or other maintenance services would be accessing the property after we checked in. I don’t believe the doorbell works.4. Hangers would have been convenient. Most people do not travel with hangers, even though we brought a lot of other stuff as required or suggested.5. Perhaps, consider offering additional towels and wash cloths. One per person was not enough. Also, there were sheets for the futons upstairs, but no blankets or towels/wash cloths.6. We appreciated the paper products available, they were a good supplement to our own.7. Although we were provided one, there’s not really a pool code to enter the pool unless you trigger the alarm. Access appears to be obtained by pressing the red button and closing the door within a specific timeframe. The posted code is only used to deactivate the alarm.8. Suggest checking the oven temperature. It seemed cooler than the selected temperature. It might need to be recalibrated. 9. Oven mitts should be replaced or washed. They were really filthy.10. We were able to download the app and stream music through the house system, but it was very spotty. It was constantly cutting off and on. It wasn’t usable or enjoyable as a result. The Railey staff and property management were very responsive before and after our arrival. They provided assurances that some of the previously reported issues with the house were resolved and to our delight, they were: beds were comfortable, new furniture was added to existing and no mildew smells during our stay. Home is absolutely beautiful! We had our family 2022 New Years here and we will be back next year. Had a few small issues that were resolved immediately thanks to the fast staff response. Most people shy away from the expensive places but you get what you pay for and this home is worth the price. If you are looking for one of the top homes in Deep Creek this property is definitely at the Top! See you next year

This property could be so much, but it is rundown and need cosmetic/structural help. House smells wet and mildewed. Furniture is broken, stained, moldy and smells. The dust in this place shows it is not cleaned often. Windows and door blinds are broken to the point they should be removed. Toilets run constantly and had broken handles…after further inspection, they need replacing in several rooms (thank goodness Railey’s team was able to get the flushing going again for the short term). Trim around borders are being held up with nails which are protruding. Broken door near game room. Flatware needs replacing, not complete setting; so many missing pieces. Cable goes in and out. Some rooms didn’t work period. Fire pit needs work. Signature properties should stand out like 5-star hotels. This property ranks a 3-star.

This is a beautiful home that I've rented before. Great view of the lake. Good location. Sad to say I probably won't rent again based on pets not being allowed. My dog goes everywhere I do.

The location is PERFECT! We boat early morning then play golf and boat again in the afternoon. We grill dinner and have a fire every night. The stars are amazing.

Amazing Vacation Home

Our family vacationed at the Castle at the Lake. What a beautiful home. First I must say after reading the many negative reviews prior to us arriving I was very nervous. I emailed them with questions prior to our arrival and they would quickly respond. Thank Jenny Kahler for always responding and providing the great information that we needed. She is so helpful and I want to personally thank her for her assistance. Our arrival was as expected. No problems and the house is exactly what is pictured. Rooms are huge. The pool was a great addition and we all enjoyed it, along with the hot tub. Positives - House is huge Kitchen had everything that we needed Heated floors throughout the downstairs was awesome The surround sound throughout the house was great. We were able to hook up to it and play music throughout the entire house to include outside. Amazing. House was very clean Customer service was fantastic. We had to call about the TVs and lights and they came quickly. I think it was Brittney who always answered the phone as we also had to call back as the temperature rose and we had to use the AC which was not working. I did make a couple of calls but she was always so gracious and it was fixed the next day. The indoor pool very nice Local towns were not too far. Suggestions/Negatives The bed in the room downstairs needs new mattresses. It was sort of sunken in the middle and should be replaced. The blinds are broken and should also be replaced They did leave 2 small rolls of toilet paper but with that big of a house you should expect for many people to come so that definitely would not be enough. Thank God that Jenny suggested things for us to bring but these things should be included as this house is not cheap. The miniature amenities were not enough. No soap was provided and should have been especially during this pandemic, but we had our own. Not much else that I can say or suggest. The house was truly amazing and well maintained. Our family truly enjoyed. If you need a huge house with an added bonus of the pool inside I would book this house. Would I book again? I probably would not because the town had absolutely nothing open for activities during our time there, which we were surprised as it was Spring Break. This is not a big tourist area so there is not much to do if that is what you are looking for. We were looking for a great house for our family to get together and we were able to bring dogs which was another bonus so it was perfect for us. Castle by the Lake is amazing and we saw other homes in the area which looked amazing as well.

Our kids loved playing in the game room at Castle at the Lake and spending time with each other. The hot tub and pool were appreciated after skiing in the mornings. The lake was frozen and the kids were able to ice fish and play ice hockey. Perfect winter home for entertaining teenage kids and toddlers.

The home and location were absolutely perfect. Our family (of six) and two dogs had an excellent time staying here. The home is stunning and even more impressive in person. The photos do not do it justice. The sunsets were unforgettable and made for some great photos. We can't say enough about how wonderful our stay here was. Definitely planning to return!

We absolutely loved the Castle on the Lake. The location was perfect, the house was very spacious and the patio was our favorite spot to hang out. We caught an amazing sunset and beautiful fall foliage. Highly recommend.

Beautiful house in great location. The bedrooms were huge with their own bathrooms. Some of the bathroom showers need maintenance. All the kitchen appliances worked well. We had 2 children there and they loved all the room downstairs to roam in and there was plenty of outside lawn for them to run in. The pool and hot tub were very clean. There was nowhere to hang wet towels in the bathrooms or pool.

Great location, incredible views, spacious with excellent amenities. There were a few small maintenance issues that were promptly addressed by Railey Vacations. We are frequent travelers to the Caribbean and appreciate the difference in this regard.

The picture and positive reviews of this house did not disappoint. Great location and enough space for all that went. Offered things to do both inside with the indoor pool and outside with the hot tub, fire pit and lake access. There were a few minor items that did not work perfectly, but as expected, with a rental property that has as many visitors as this property likely does in a year there were none that would keep us from returning to this property in the future. Travel to the food store, etc. was a bit further than expected but again all positives clearly outweigh this or anything else.

Our group had an incredible time at this rental, mainly because of the size and the few extra amenities. We weren't ever on top of each other, the location was prime and when the weather was really nice, it was great to sit outside and soak up the sun!

This house was truly awe inspiring! This house was ground zero for a fun filled wedding weekend and our guests could not have had more fun. Seeing my cousins and friends swimming in the lake, playing football on the lawn, or laying in the sun the day after our wedding was awesome. The kitchen and living area made entertaining a breeze and we all had comfortable and luxurious accommodations for the night. There's a wine cooler! A second freezer. So many great perks! And the game room will make your jaw drop - it's huge! Great for a family reunion or get away!

We rented a few homes together to host our wedding, one of the guest homes being Castle on the Lake. It was a beautiful, clean home! Very spacious and great to accommodate a large number of guests. We appreciated all the separate spaces in the house so people were together, yet still had some privacy. We spent a ton of time on the beautiful patio and had a fire. The cove of the lake was not too busy. Neighborhood was quiet and perfect for us!

As a resident of the area, I am usually working and don't get to experience the fun that Deep Creek Lake has to offer. Deep Creek Lodging and the Castle on the Lake opened my eyes to how much fun it is to vacation here at Deep Creek Lake. I urge all others to take some time to do this for themselves. It's a rare opportunity to live in a place where you do not need to leave to go on vacation.

The location was great. I wish we had more control of the heat it, it was cold most of the time, some shower heads need replacing, our oven went out twice and the fuse box had to be reset by a property manager and a few more kitchen items could be added (pots baking dishes etc). These minor things will not stop a good time and I still would recommend this property.

We came during the offseason and midweek, so it was very affordable. The house was clean and in great shape. The beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Not really a complaint, but just be aware renting a house with a pool will smell like a pool and be quite humid inside. We would definitely rent again.

Absolutely amazing property! Beautifully appointed home on the inside and out. My only complaint is that the driveway was not cleared of snow and it was unclear where the grass began.

Our maintenance department does provide salt and shovels in case of snow pileup during your visit so as to not disrupt your stay with early-morning snow removal. The house was great and had all the amenities you could need. We loved the outdoor entertaining area and pretty much cooked over the fire pit the whole time. Hot tub to relax, secure pool area for play and great for kids. Would love the house in the summer, already looking into dates!
