DESCRIPTION:
Log Retreat is unique estate property with a boat slip made up of two of homes, Log Mahal and Log Hut! With nine bedrooms total and expansive outdoor spaces, Log Retreat is a wonderful way to accommodate your next family reunion or large group retreat. Experiences are endless at this luxury estate. Come together around the central fire pit, hang out in massive yard space, or divide off and enjoy some peace and quiet in either of the two hot tubs or catch some rays while relaxing on the decks of the two homes. Log Hut and Log Mahal do not accept individual summer bookings; all reservations must be made for the combined Log Retreat property.

ACCESS DETAILS:
Lake Access and Dock Slip are located down Paradise Acres Rd on a gravel road with a sign saying "farm use lake access."

Please note that the only vehicles allowed down the path are UTVs and golf carts. Standard vehicles are not permitted and fines will be issued.

This home comes with free access to the Community Aquatic Recreation Center (CARC)! This fitness and wellness complex, located in the central Deep Creek Lake area, offers a modern gym and a full-size indoor pool. The free CARC membership is available to all guests in the home for the duration of your stay, up to the home’s full occupancy.

Log Retreat worked well for our group of 21. We were there over the Christmas holiday, and were surprised and delighted to find both houses were decorated for the holidays, including fully lit trees in each! That was truly a treat, and much appreciated! Spaces in the houses are comfortable and generous, with large bedrooms. The mattresses were firm and comfortable, and the towels were nice quality. Log Mahal's kitchen was good for group cooking. It's very well-equipped, with loads of dishes, extra bowls and platters, glassware, silverware, good quality knives, a griddle, toaster, crock pot, blender - really, anything you could want. That was great! Finally, we didn't use the outside area because we had rainy winter weather, but the property would be great for outdoor fun. Things to consider: Log Mahal, the main house, has single-zone heating, so it was hard to create a comfortable temperature throughout the house. Also, the log portion of the house (top 2 floors) is drafty, so when the temps were near freezing, it was COLD inside. When it warmed up to the mid-40s, everyone was much more comfortable. (This didn't seem to be an issue in the Log Hut.) Also, because we had a large group, there wasn't enough seating for us to eat together in the main house. We brought folding tables, and luckily there was room to set them up next to the main dining table so we could eat together. We had a few other small glitches (a drawer was stuck, had to use a match to light one burner, etc.), but nothing we couldn't handle and not worth calling maintenance about. Lastly, the house seemed dark, especially in some of the bedrooms. SO - overall, while a few things could be improved, we were very happy with our stay at the Log Retreat. It was a terrific place for our extended family to enjoy Christmas together!

The cabin was beautiful, hidden like a gem in a perfect getaway. The dishwasher didn’t work, the stove didn’t light unless we used the lighter, the hot tub needed almost 4hrs to heat up and the pool and gym was not on the property and not accessible, nor was the dock. However our gathering was perfect.

Loved it and the grounds! It was great to have the tennis court and basketball hoop as well as the fire pit area and green space to play and run around in. We had 24 people total in the two houses and it didn’t seem crowded. It was nice to have both the houses so you could always find a quiet spot when needed. We cooked a lot, especially in the kitchen of the larger house, and that worked out very well. Plenty of pots and pans as well as dishes and utensils. We enjoyed the large picnic style table off the kitchen as well the outdoor seating options. Nice location with lake access and not far from anything. Overall we were very satisfied although some of the mattresses were getting old and could be replaced. As other reviews have mentioned, to get the upstairs bedrooms cool enough we did have to crank up the ac and the bottom floor bedrooms got chilly. But there were plenty of blankets to cope with that. Also the ice machine on the fridge didn’t keep up with demand so be sure to bring some. We’d definitely recommend Log Retreat for a large family group.

Great place for our 8th annual family vacation to DCL. Quiet, private and a bit secluded from the hustle and bustle! Age range 2 months to 73 yrs and there was something for everyone. Firepit was great for nightly s'mores. Kids loved the swing set/play structure. The yard allowed us to play croquet and frisbee golf. The tennis/basketball court was also used for kids and their scooters. The dog run was large and perfect for our dogs to run and exercise unleashed. Everything inside was in great shape. Our only regret was not being closer to the water (but we knew that when we signed up)! Would definitely return to Log Retreat!!

Great for Large Groups - Not Really Impressed with Condition

We stayed there with several other families and we were pleased with the number of bedrooms and space to accommodate that many people. I was extremely disappointed in the lawn upkeep. The grass had clearly not been cut in awhile and was up past my ankles, which made playing with the kids in the yard very uncomfortable. One of our guests got a tick on his leg from walking with his kid around the playset area. The condition of the furniture throughout the houses was not great, very worn, throw pillows with holes, and one patio chair that is ready to break if someone tries to sit back in it. The grill at Log Mahal is missing a drip tray which caused it to make a huge mess when grilling. The TV in the living room on the main floor was broken, lines going up and down the right side of the screen and we couldn't figure out how to put anything on to watch, seemed there was no cable/streaming services etc. that would work. Not a huge deal as we don't watch TV very often on our trips, but it's nice to be able to put something on for kids when they need some downtime. We did enjoy the firepit and the kids loved riding their bikes and scooters on the large paved driveway. The temperature control in the house was not ideal either. The 3rd floor of Log Mahal was very hot so the air had to be turned down to help cool it, but then the people in the basement froze. I would consider renting again, but only with the assurance that the grass would be cut before our arrival, as that was the biggest disappointment.

A firepit is a wonderful thing, and so is a nice level paved driveway for riding bikes! I am going to forward your comments about the living room tv, missing drip pan, worn throw pillows, and broken patio chair to the homeowner. Our homeowners take guest experience very seriously, and I'm sure will make the necessary repairs/updates. The overgrown lawn, and difficult temperature control between floors I will forward to maintenance. We are very sorry you had these problems with your stay, but are glad to know you would stay again with assurances that the grass had been mowed before your arrival. We hope you will come to Deep Creek lake for another vacation. We had our rehearsal dinner and wedding at Log Retreat and it was perfect. The property was more than large enough for our 85 guests and vendors and the children (and adults) loved the swing set right there.

The log retreat was fantastic. we could have not asked for better accommodations and a place to stay. I recommend this to any large group of guys going to Deep creek. after golf each day we spent the next hours around the fire pit eating and drinking. also secluded with lots of parking.

The Log Retreat property was wonderful! We loved having a fire pit between the two houses and plenty of room in each house and on the property to spread out. Many books and crannies within each house to find a moment of quiet solitude. On the grounds, we enjoyed tennis, the oversized dog run, the large grounds for a great game of manhunt, and the nice hike down to the boat launch. We had a great week. We did have a clogged toilet one night - the company sent a plumber within 20 minutes and fixed the problem - that's service!! Thank you. We will be back!

The property set up is beautiful! We enjoyed the fire pit in between the houses and the tennis court. We would definitely rent this property again for either of yearly fall trip with friends or summer trip with family.

We really enjoyed the the house and surrounding property! It provided the family with plenty of space to play games, have great dinners together and enjoy a fun filled week.
