A wooden door opens to the cozy interior that is truly an original cottage to our area. Spend your time outdoors enjoying all the amenities this wonderful cottage offers. Venture outside to find a spacious gently sloping yard and a whimsical path to the water’s edge. This home offers a dock slip and lake front area. Roast marshmallows around the stone fire pit, and use the grill to enjoy lunch around the picnic table. If you’re up for a challenge, try your hand at horseshoes or find the face in the tree trunk! Wish I could have given it a 5 and the location would dictate as much but we had a couple issues with the cabin. First the great. The hot tub/view was awesome. Little icy so exercise caution. We really enjoyed the back porch too. Firepit worked as expected :) Internet. big TV with cable/movies a nice added touch. Issues keeping it from a 5. One was the lack of a functioning fireplace. Its in the pictures but according to the maintenance tech it is not yet hooked up to gas. Bummer. Also there was an issue with getting in and out of the cabin. We knew the road was unimproved and the driveway was little better. NP we had 4x4 but the entrance to the cabin was either icy or muddy. We had to use salt so we didnt fall but that created some mud. Which made a mess. Perhaps a concrete walkway would help. We were vigilant about trying to keep the floors clean but we couldn't find any cleaning products, mop, vacuum or a decent broom. Anyway we bought some salt, a broom, 409 and some more paper towels and survived. Also not pleased with Railey for telling us we could check in early. We got there early (1pm) only to find out there is a 90 dollar fee for checking in early. Remember this. You can check in early but not before one. You can pay the early check in, which we did, since we were there at noon and check in after one or you can save 90 bucks and check in for free after 3pm. Perhaps there is a miscommunication but when someone tells you that you can check in early and then you get there early only to find out if you want to check in early its going to be 90 bucks. Well that's a little bit of a gotcha IMO

We will be sure to pass along your suggestions and concerns to the homeowners including the fireplace, cleaning products, and walkway entry for consideration of future upgrades to the home. Our staff and homeowners value your feedback and will be doing all that we can to make the property safe and functional for future rentals. Also we would like to mention that all early check in's come with a required fee before our check in time at 4pm but we will be sure to follow up with our staff and ensure that the correct policy is being advocated. Otherwise we are pleased that overall you and your family had a great time with us and we hope to have the opportunity to rent to you again in the future where I am confident we can provide a better rental experience. Could have been so much better

With a little effort, this place could be great. There’s no curtains on the windows in the kitchen so you feel like you’re in a fishbowl. There’s not a single hook or bar to hang things on in the bath. No place to hang towels or robes to dry - it’s literally ridiculous. As many others have written, when will properly management take a few minutes to add some Velcro and fix the couch cushions so the couch can be used without the cushions and guests sliding onto the floor. The quantity of chipped and damaged dishes and mugs is insane - this stuff harbors germs - just toss it - there’s so much other stuff for a cabin that sleeps so few people. There no broom or dustpan or vacuum. After a few days we had tracked in so many leaves and there was nothing to clean up after ourselves with. We grabbed a broom at a local spot to not leave a filthy mess and to no live in filth while we were there. Hot tub heated up first day then fuse tripped and couldn’t be reset was unusable. Fire place was marked out of service. Oven door didn’t close and was unable to cook in oven. The pantry is so crammed full of a million multiples of things that there’s no room to put your food stuff when you arrive. The bedroom is dark - no ample light for getting ready. I mean - I could keep going but I don’t see why I should.

The cabin was perfect for a getaway for my husband and I. Very cozy, clean and well equipped. The cabin was scheduled for some updates that were well needed so we took that into consideration. We’ll be renting from Railey Vacations again.

We enjoyed our week at the cottage. It was so nice to walk out the back door and down to the dock. We enjoyed a multi-day boat rental to take advantage of the wonderful waterfront and our biggest decision each day was which direction to head to go fish and explore the lake. The hot tub was a great way to top off a day on the water upon our return to the house. We enjoyed the back porch for morning coffee and evening reading. The king bed was very comfortable. Our dog loved the opportunity to romp in the water by the dock, we appreciate that we were able to have him with us on our vacation!

Water in the sky was the perfect place for me and my hubby to escape for a while. It was rainy, windy and cooler than we expected it would be so we didnt enjoy the use of the hot tub, but this property was comfortable, clean, beautiful and well maintained. Our dog enjoy it too.

We are repeat renters for this lovely cabin. It is so quaint and well stocked and clean. However, the sofa desperately needs replaced. The cushions slide off and quests can not sit on it comfortably.

This little Cottage was super cute, cozy, and private. It was very nice to have a view of the lake from the sun porch. Lots of mosquitos this time of year. I was disappointed that the hot tub wasn’t clean enough to enjoy. It looked like it wasn’t cleaned for a good while — dirt/film around the inside of the hot tub/seats and dead mosquitos floating in the water.

This cute cottage had a great view of the lake. The sun porch was a great amenity as the rain brought out the mosquitos. My partner and I felt that the property was private enough. The only negative was that the hot tub was not very clean despite it being serviced 4 days before our stay.

Water in the Sky is a cozy and eclectic gem of a cottage! We spent 3 days here in early April during an unexpectedly warm early spring getaway. The cabin was clean and well stocked and has lots of charm. It is located on a quiet arm of Deep Creek Lake, even more enjoyable because of the solitude and serenity of the early spring. We enjoyed the waterfront seating (dock wasn’t in yet, but it didn’t bother us), the fire circle, the view of the dark skies from the hot tub and time spent on the enclosed porch when it was a bit chilly. The king bed was really comfortable and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The updated bathroom was great too. This was a perfect place for a couple’s getaway, with Swallow Falls and plenty of other hiking locations nearby. We will come back when the water is warmer and enjoy kayaking and fishing.

We liked the location. It was close enough to the lake but far enough away that you didn't have all the Lake noise. The beds were comfortable, even the pullout couch. The screen doors could use some TLC, and the log holder in the indoor fireplace needs replaced, but these items wouldn't stop us from renting again We also enjoyed the closed in rear porch and the hot tub which was very clean. If you're looking for a nice get away, Water in the Sky is a great place to stay

This one bedroom cabin was great for our family of three. Well stocked kitchen and other necessary items included were a nice surprise. Great location on the lake and very close to Swallow Falls Park for hiking. Even though it was a bit chilly during our visit, the fireplace made for a very cozy stay. We arrived to no internet, which was quickly resolved first thing the next morning. Would definitely recommend!

This cabin is spacious and well-appointed. Beds very comfy. Kitchen extremely well stocked. Our problems were the lack of any hot water (warm at best) in the gorgeous bathroom, and a three-seat sofa bed whose bottom cushions wouldn’t stay in place, creating a fall hazard.

We truly enjoyed our small getaway at the Water in the Sky in Deep Creek. This home is located in a private community and is located on a quieter side of the lake. We loved having direct lake access and a hot tub. The house was very clean and had plenty of towels and sheets for our stay. We also appreciated the rental company for leaving us a bag of toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent, etc. One quick tip: be sure to turn the hot tub on as soon as you get there! We didn't realize that it would take 6 hours to heat up and we were bummed when we couldn't use it the first night because we waited too long to turn it on. Another great feature was the glass enclosed porch with accent lighting! What a peaceful place for an evening drink and a morning coffee.

We LOVED Water in the Sky - it was the perfect cabin for our family of 4 with two boys (2 and 8) and a German Shepherd. It was clean, decorated PERFECTLY, and had everything we needed. The kitchen was equipped with anything we'd need and we loved the hot tub. The beds were super soft and we slept great. The lake view was beautiful and we had no issues accessing it or traversing the path to the lake, even for our 2 year old. We would definitely return to the sweet cabin.

What a great property--from the quaint home, the lovely screened-in porch overlooking the yard and lakefront, the hot tub and private dock! We had an amazing time and were very satisfied with our choice to rent on Deep Creek Lake!

The cottage was perfect for a "Couples Retreat." The cabin was cozy and clean and of course, the lake view was awesome. According to earlier reviews, the back door was not working and the house smelled heavily of pet odors. Those issues must have been taken care of before we arrived as the house smells quite pleasant and the back door worked just fine.

We really liked the location, very private, pretty and quiet. The dock access and lake were nice. Fire pit and hot tub nice. Great kitchen, great mattress . A few things to improve on would be landscaping, rethink that Victorian tub/ shower, fix the back door so it locks and opens, pet odor was strong.i have a dog but really strong odor. A bit pricey for the overall condition.

Nice little cottage and dock.

Nice little cottage but Lake Front and Dock are the best features. Dock is great to just sit and float on with many ways to moor your boat, PWCs, kayak, etc. That is where we spent most of our time besides on the water. The semi- circular driveway is nice so you don’t have to back out on a narrow gravel road. It is in a private community so most of the time the surrounding neighbors were quiet with little traffic. Some minor fixes would be new floors, back porch door, rotting steps to dock, etc. Also wish the boat ramp was closer. Overall would stay here again.

If you want an inexpensive visit to a nice area of the lake with a dock, fire pit and tall trees giving privacy you can't beat this one bedroom cottage. We rented "Water in The Sky" as a second property for additional guests and a place to park a boat and jet skis for the week. It fulfilled our needs and we would rent it again.

First time back in 40 years, to show my wife what I have been talking about to her for over 30 years. Deep Creek lake was awesome. It was off season so the weather was nott great but we loved the beautiful scenery and the cabin was perfect for my wife and I and our Yorkie.

Booking at the last minute, One bedroom/one bathroom was the only initial concern, but quickly went away at the site of this cabin. What a wonderful stay, quaint and peaceful. Designed for a small gathering only though.  Views are breathtaking inside and outside.
Enjoyed our stay tremendously here and would recommend this place. Great service with the property management. Thank you

Magical Christmas Getaway

My husband and I (along with our two little Shihtzus) decided to go away for Christmas this year for the first time. Our goal was to find the perfect little cottage and hopefully have a white Christmas. Water In The Sky did not disappoint and neither did Mother Nature with 10” overall of snow!! Our Christmas was MAGICAL! We put up a Christmas tree, roasted hot dogs, made smores in the fireplace and had the traditional holiday ham. We LOVED the property and we are planning on making it a Christmas tradition. THANK YOU for the memories!!

This cabin was great. There was a nice view to the water and the dock, and although there were neighbors on both sides, the cabin felt private due to the large trees separating the properties. We enjoyed our time there, and found the property and the hosts to be friendly and amenable to making our stay relaxing and special. We would definitely stay there again!

It was just myself and my fiance that rented this cabin and it was the perfect size. Cabin was clean and in great shape. They even left a bag on the kitchen counter with a few small supplies. Great access to the lake less then 100 yards from the cabin. We will definitely be back to the same place again soon.

My husband and I stayed with our two small dogs. We loved the little care package left for us when we got there (toilet paper, paper towels, deck of cards, tablet, pen, etc) all in a great reuseable bag. The house was very clean and well kept. The renting company was also very helpful

This was our third visit to this little property - the house is small-ish, but kitchen and bath are lovely, and the property itself is delightful, with a long, sloping hill down to the lake shore. We feel like we've come home every time we show up!

Awesome view of the lake. Immaculately clean house. The softest comforters and pillows I ever had in my life! We kayaked right out back from property. Super nice fire pit. Loved everything especially walking in the door to find a lovely gift bag from Property Management Company! That was a very nice welcoming treat.

It was really cute and comfortable. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was clean. I would recommend this place for a single traveler, a couple or a young family. My dogs also enjoyed the cottage. My only complaint was that the WiFi was iffy but I went there to relax and get away so it wasn't that big of a deal. I had to unplug it a couple times and it worked. I would definitely rent this place again. Loved the location. It was far enough from the main road but convenient to get to things.

Winter Weekend in the Woods

My husband and I had a great winter weekend at Water in the Sky. The cabin is cozy and clean and the décor is great for a cabin in the woods. The sun porch is wonderful to sit in except when it's too cold even with the space heater. The walk down the steps to the water is easy and the water view from the sun porch is relaxing and pretty. The kitchen is newly updated and nice, the king bed is comfy, and the bathroom is updated, clean and nice. Our golden retriever had a blast chewing sticks and chasing squirrels! We might try to go for a summer visit too. A few glitches were that the WiFi worked the first day we were there but then didn't on the second day, but we called the 800 number for the WiFi service and they walked us through how to fix it, and then it worked. We did have a safety concern about the shower that we shared with Railey to pass on to the owner that should have a very easy fix.

Last Minute Weekend Getaway

Cabin is CUTER in real life, pictures do not do it justice. Cabin was SPOTLESS! As soon as we opened the door we were greeted by warmth, warm lights, a gift basket (notepad and pen, toilet paper(1), paper towels(1), a souvenir mug with tea and coffee bags, etc. So cute!) It was so CLEAN; we were so impressed. The furniture was cozy, the bathroom is super charming, the fireplace was perfection (we used it all weekend. Also, buy your own logs.) and the kitchen was stocked with tons of cooking and eating/drinking utensils. We literally felt like it was OUR cabin and we had just come home. NO WiFi. NO working landline. Frustrating as phone service is spotty out there being out in the woods and we really could have used BOTH for GPS/directions around town and also checking up our daughter back at home. Also, these amenities are both included in the rental price, so that was a little annoying. Make sure to prepare yourself to know where you want to go/get going in case you don't have gps or service to the outside world. Specially when it gets dark! Very dark at nighttime! The bed was super, super plush. Get ready for an awesome nights sleep! Cabin very close to all attractions. The water view was awesome and the nature all around was so inspiring. It was a really great cabin. Even with the little hiccups we would rent this particular cabin again!

Great New Years Weekend Away

My husband and I love the Deep Creek area and have stayed in multiple locations around the lake. This house allowed pets, so it was perfect for us to get away for the weekend. Water in the Sky was a very cute, nicely decorated house with many updates. The view of the lake was extremely pretty, especially since it snowed that weekend. Located in a quiet neighborhood, we would definitely recommend to family and friends. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!!
